Job Summary

As a Design Graduate, you’ll gain exposure to well-established design teams and learn how to contribute to product and service teams by solving functional-level design problems. The internship will allow you to explore core design disciplines such as User Experience Design (UX), User Interface Design (UI), Service Design, Customer Research, Prototype Engineering, and Content Strategy.

You will grow your skills by contributing to one project at a time, learning how to follow design standards and processes while working closely with senior designers.

Key Responsibilities

During the internship, you will:

  • Follow a team-defined approach to contribute to design projects.
  • Conduct research (both primary and secondary) to understand user pain points, needs, and goals.
  • Execute design work based on input and feedback from project leads.
  • Adapt designs based on customer and team feedback to improve solutions.
  • Present your design work to business stakeholders with the support of project leads.
  • Advocate and represent design thinking methodologies within the team.
  • Create production-ready designs that meet project specifications.
  • Generate innovative design solutions to improve customer experience.
  • Apply design thinking best practices and methodologies in collaboration with senior designers.
  • Use data insights, including market analysis, customer feedback, and research, to shape user-centered products and services.
  • Design mock-ups and prototypes, iterating as needed for the project’s success.
  • Align designs to ABSA’s brand guidelines, ensuring consistency across all customer touchpoints.
  • Continuously enhance your expertise by seeking feedback, staying updated with design trends, and following industry best practices.

Requirements

To qualify for the internship, you must:

  • Be studying towards or have already obtained a Bachelor’s Degree or Professional Qualification at NQF Level 7 or higher.
  • Be on track to complete your degree by the end of 2024.
