Lindsay Saker VW Alberton is offering a Competency Based Modular Training (CBMT) Apprenticeship for individuals aspiring to become qualified Motor Vehicle Mechanics. This program combines on-the-job training (OJT) with theoretical classroom instruction through the Motus Technical Training Academy (MTTA).
Training Program Details
The program runs under a 4-year contract and includes:
- CBMT Contract
- Administered by merSETA with a learnership agreement through Lindsay Saker VW Alberton.
- MIBCO minimum wages apply for the CBMT Apprentice.
- Structured Training
- Levels 1 – 4: Classroom instruction and on-the-job training.
- Theoretical Training:
- 5 days of training every 5 weeks at MTTA.
- Distance learning via the CDX program, featuring interactive demonstrations, tutorials, and quizzes.
- Testing & Competency
- Computer-based testing and exams.
- Practical competency evaluations.
- Work Experience
- Gain hands-on experience at Lindsay Saker Alberton Service Department.
- Work with qualified technicians to inspect, maintain, and repair vehicles.
- Develop a portfolio of evidence for program completion.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualifications:
- Matric with Mathematics and Physical Science or N2 with Mathematics, Engineering Science, and English (minimum 50% required).
- Driver’s License
- Computer Literacy
- Mechanical Insight Test: Pass a technical assessment.
Additional Requirements:
- Background checks.
- Medical assessment to determine fitness for work.
- Psychometric assessment and face-to-face interview for shortlisted candidates.
