As EHS Intern, who will be based in Kroonstad, you will be responsible for assisting the EHS&S Coordinator with planning, implementing and overseeing company’s employee safety at work. Their main duty is to ensure that the company complies and adheres to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) guidelines to reduce work-related injuries. Hence, the main goal will be to ensure safe working environment and prevent any injuries and accidents on job and off job.
You Will Be Part of Growing Team
Kroonstad SPSC plants supplies multi crop to customers in the AME region and the focus point is Safety and Quality. As EHS Intern at Kroonstad Plants & Warehouses, you will play important role in EHS&S Safety requirements and standards of Corteva’s customers.
Your Challenge
- Assist with Industrial Hygiene implementation (risk assessments, Ideagen).
- Assist with the implementation of company’s core values, rules and regulations.
- Assist with relevant safety training to employees and contractors.
- Advise and assist employees on various safety-related topics.
- Check and verify that all the employees are acting in adherence with rules and regulations.
- Review and update existing safety, standards and procedures.
- Assist that all necessary Standard Operating procedures (SOPs)/work instructions are in place.
- Assist with new employee on-boarding process for safety.
- Work with integrated health services to ensure timely medical examinations are conducted and follow up where applicable.
- Assist with risk assessment, identify safety bottlenecks and offer timely solutions.
- Assist with necessary audits and assessments.
- Assist with verification of corrective actions and leveraging preventative actions.
- Assist with root cause investigations following a defined methodology.
- Perform other safety duties and responsibilities as ordered by line manager.
Key Stakeholders And Interactions
As EHS Intern at Kroonstad SPSC, you will report to EHS&S Coordinator. He/She will have working with other people leaders, Quality and EHS departments and direct peers.

To Grow What Matters, You Will Need
- National Senior Certificate / Matric
- National Diploma or equivalent in Health Safety Management
- CIH Certification (Certified Industrial Hygienist) – Preferred
- (National Diploma in Safety Management / B. Tech in Safety Management / SAMTRAC certificate and registered with the SACPCMP)
- Incident investigation
- Strong knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation, regulations and standards
- Valid Driver’s license
- Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Computer aptitude including use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
