The Engineering Exposure Training Programme is designed to provide young South Africans, particularly those from host communities, with hands-on experience and technical skills in engineering trades. Successful candidates will be enrolled in a three-year learnership programme leading to an artisan qualification.
Available Learnership Positions:
- Fitter Learnership (x1)
- Boilermaker Plater Learnership (x1)
- Rigger Learnership (x1)
- Earthmoving Mechanic Learnership (x2)
- Diesel Mechanic Learnership (x2)
Training Structure:
- Year 1: Institutional training at ESTC (Engineering Skills Training Centre)
- Year 2: On-the-job training at Mogalakwena Mine
- Year 3: Trade test completion
Minimum Requirements:
To qualify for the learnership, applicants must have one of the following qualifications:
- Matric certificate with Mathematics (not Mathematics Literacy), Physical Science, and English (minimum 40% pass in all subjects), or
- N2 certificate with relevant trade subjects, or
- NCV Level 4 in an appropriate trade (minimum 40% pass in all subjects)
Additional Requirements for Trade Test:
- A minimum of N2 subjects/certificate with applicable subjects for the relevant trade, including:
- Mathematics
- Engineering Science
- Relevant Trade Theory
- Industrial Electronics or Engineering Drawings
- NCV Level 4 in an appropriate trade with all subjects passed at a minimum of 40%
Conditions of the Learnership:
- Must be prepared to work on surface in open pit environments
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must pass the relevant psychometric assessment
- Must obtain a medical certificate of fitness
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills in English
- A valid South African driver’s license is advantageous
