Key objectives:

  • The SHEQ Officer will be responsible for managing and promoting the company’s Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) systems, with a particular focus on maintaining and improving our compliance with ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), and ISO 9001 (Quality Management) standards. Ensure that all operations adhere to the highest standards of safety, environmental sustainability, and quality, with a focus on the industrial manufacturing processes that support the mining sector. The ideal candidate will have a stable work record and a passion for SHEQ excellence.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

  • Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in safety, Environmental Science, Quality Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. A qualification in Mechanical Engineering will be an advantage.
  • Proven experience in the industrial manufacturing sector, preferably with a focus on the mining and manufacturing industry an added advantage.
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 standards, and experience implementing and maintaining these systems. Knowledge of ISO 3834 will be an advantage
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations within the manufacturing sector.
  • Stable work record, with demonstrated longevity in previous positions.
  • Strong audit, inspection, and risk assessment skills.
  • Experience in incident investigation and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and SHEQ management software (s).

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Implement, monitor, and improve SHEQ management systems in compliance with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 standards.
  • Develop and monitor the implementation of the Quality Control Plans (QCPs) and ensure all equipment delivered to the client meet the Afrinov Quality standards.
  • Conduct regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with SHEQ policies and standards.
  • Conduct internal audits and participate in external audits for quality management and compliance.
  • Lead incident investigations, ensuring root causes are identified, and corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
  • Develop and deliver training and awareness programs to employees on safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Ensure that safety measures are effectively implemented across the manufacturing process and in compliance with industry regulations.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety, environmental, and quality objectives and report on them to senior management.
  • Provide advice and guidance on all SHEQ-related matters to employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of compliance, audits, inspections, and certifications.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure continuous improvement in SHEQ processes and procedures.
  • Support the preparation and management of regulatory inspections and external audits for SHEQ standards.
  • Promote a safety-first culture throughout the organization and engage employees in safety and quality initiatives.
  • Ensure Legal compliance audits are conducted and all findings addressed for the site/plants.
  • Monitor and ensure the manufacturing processes meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Work closely with production teams to identify quality issues and implement corrective actions.
