The Gauteng Department of Social Development (DSD) provides social welfare services to vulnerable individuals, families, and communities across the province.
Internship 1: Social Work Graduate Internship
Requirements:
- BA: Social Work
- Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professionals
Duties:
- Provide practical work experience for unemployed youth who require exposure in a work environment
- Interns must be prepared for placement across all corridors and institutions within the department
Internship 2: Social Auxiliary Work Internship

- Directorate: Human Resource Development
- Number of Posts: 53
- Stipend: R5 639.75 – R6 659.25 per month (depending on NQF level)
Requirements:
- FETC NQF Level 4 or 5 in Social Auxiliary Work
- Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professionals
Duties:
- Provide practical workplace exposure for unemployed youth
- Interns must be prepared for placement across all corridors and institutions within the department
General Notes
- Youth between the ages of 18–35, from all race and gender categories, are encouraged to apply
- Preference will be given to youth with disabilities
- Applications must include:
- Fully completed and signed Z83 application form
- CV with certified copies of qualifications and ID
- IEC voting district verification printout (available from IEC website)
