Judicial Inspectorate for Correctional Services (JICS) is a South African government body that provides independent oversight of correctional facilities. Its mandate is to inspect and report on the conditions of detention and the treatment of inmates, ensuring that they are kept in humane conditions and with respect for their constitutional rights. Established under the Correctional Services Act 111 of 1998, JICS aims to ensure transparent and accountable oversight of the Department of Correctional Services (DCS).
