The Siyathemba Local Municipality is a local government body in the Northern Cape province of South Africa. The purpose of the Learner Technician Programme is to provide graduates with practical electrical engineering exposure, assisting them in developing technical competencies and working toward obtaining a Government Certificate of Competency (GCC).Learners will work within the Electrical Division of the Technical Services Department, gaining supervised training in the management, inspection, and maintenance of the municipal electrical network and related infrastructure.

Preferred Requirements

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering (to qualify for the Government Certificate of Competency – GCC)

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will:

1. Assist with the implementation and execution of operational policies and procedures in the Electrical Department.
2. Gain exposure to electrical services legislation, including the Health and Safety Act, Wiring Regulations, Labour Act, and applicable Municipal Bylaws.
3. Participate in planning, reporting, and quality control processes for electrical projects.
4. Assist in feasibility studies, technical analyses, and monitoring of municipal electrical infrastructure.
5. Support customer awareness programmes and satisfaction surveys.
6. Accompany operational staff to gain technical knowledge and maintain records of activities.
7. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Salary

Remuneration will align with the municipal grading system and applicable conditions of service.
