Offering comprehensive care and treatment programs, including antiretroviral therapy (ART) and TB preventive therapy (TPT), along with adherence support and social work services to ensure successful health outcomes.

Purpose of the position:

  • The incumbent will focus on coordinating the provision of laboratory services (NHLS and SANBS)

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have a Degree / National Higher Diploma in Medical Technology
  • Tertiary qualification/degree in Health Sciences (post-grad qualification an advantage)
  • Minimum of 5 years post qualification experience coupled with  appropriate supervisory role experience is essential
  • Registration with HPCSA as Medical Technologist
  • Knowledge of health and Public Service Legislation, Regulations and Policies
  • Knowledge in the application of Clinical Medical Technology theory, practice and ethics
  • Knowledge in the application of Public and Human Resource Management Systems
  • Demonstrative ability to use health information for planning
  • Able to communicate in English and another African language
  • Valid driver’s licence and be willing to travel
  • Clear criminal record

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Guide and direct the process of policy and   strategy implementation
  • Evaluate and monitor the implementation of policies/ strategies/ guidelines/ protocols related to laboratory Services at all levels of service delivery
  • Provide inputs into the development of a comprehensive risk management strategy
  • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of quality assurance programmes for laboratory services
  • Liaise with health programmes in disease surveillance, identification of disease outbreaks and control
  • Monitor and audit the implementation of quality assurance in general by both NHLS and SANBS
  • Provide support and coordination of blood transfusion services
  • Establish partnerships and collaboration of relevant stakeholders
  • Sound financial management of programme funds
  • Manage change and diversity in the sub-programme
  • Review personnel performance
  • Train and develop personnel
  • Facilitate the registration of clinicians onto the NHLS laboratory information system
  • Ensure compliance of clinicians with the optimal filling of lab test request forms
  • Rapid test Quality Improvement Initiative (RTQII)
