Overstrand Local Municipality is a local municipality in the Western Cape province of South Africa. Located within the Overberg District Municipality, its administrative seat is the coastal town of Hermanus. The municipality includes several towns and villages, with the principal towns being Hermanus, Gansbaai, and Kleinmond. Other communities include Stanford, Betty’s Bay, and Pearly Beach.

Requirements:

• A relevant 3-year tertiary qualification, preferably a National Diploma or B Com with financial accounting as a major subject
• Computer Literacy: MS Office
• 2-5 years relevant experience
• National Certificate in Municipal Financial Management as prescribed in Regulation 493, 15 June 2007 of the MFMA.
• Communication skills in two of the three official languages of the Western Cape

Key performance areas:

• Implementation and maintenance of a system of costing
• Compiling and processing of relevant cost transactions and analyzing cost reports
• Calculation and evaluation of cost effectiveness of activities regarding costing areas identified
• Continuous evaluation of costing system functionality, identification of ineffectiveor lack of effective costing functionality in accordance with needs.
• Assist with continuous monitoring of monthly and yearend reconciliations and working documents regarding financial information for the preparation of the Annual
• Financial Statements
• Compile quarterly interim financial statements for review by the Manager: Accounting Services
• Assist with the preparation of VAT returns
• Preparing and compiling various financial management and statistical reports for the Financial Accounting department.
