Description

• Perform serological tests for the vector-borne parasitic diseases.
• Entry of results into Access Database and drafting of letters.
• Responsible for hard copy and computer record keeping of results.
• Diagnostic samples: Receiving, identifying, allocating, preparing and processing samples in such a way as to ensure that all the blood and serum samples of an individual animal correspond.
• Assist in research on the attenuated heartwater vaccine.
• Procurement of laboratory reagents.
• Performing parasite counts using flow cytometer.
• Performing molecular assays for detection of heartwater.
• Performing cell culture of heartwater vaccine.
• Responsible for normal housekeeping duties such as recording temperatures of fridges & freezers, quality control, maintenance of apparatus etc.
• Adhering to all Safety and GLP rules and regulations.

Requirements

• National Diploma/ BTech/ Bachelor of Health Science (Veterinary Technologist/Microbiology/Biochemistry/Molecular Biology)
• Must be registered with SAVC.
• Knowledge of veterinary bacterial pathogens and diseases.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrate the ability to work within a team.Description
