Description
- Perform serological tests for the vector-borne parasitic diseases.
- Entry of results into Access Database and drafting of letters.
- Responsible for hard copy and computer record keeping of results.
- Diagnostic samples: Receiving, identifying, allocating, preparing and processing samples in such a way as to ensure that all the blood and serum samples of an individual animal correspond.
- Assist in research on the attenuated heartwater vaccine.
- Procurement of laboratory reagents.
- Performing parasite counts using flow cytometer.
- Performing molecular assays for detection of heartwater.
- Performing cell culture of heartwater vaccine.
- Responsible for normal housekeeping duties such as recording temperatures of fridges & freezers, quality control, maintenance of apparatus etc.
- Adhering to all Safety and GLP rules and regulations.
Requirements
- National Diploma/ BTech/ Bachelor of Health Science (Veterinary Technologist/Microbiology/Biochemistry/Molecular Biology)
- Must be registered with SAVC.
- Knowledge of veterinary bacterial pathogens and diseases.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate the ability to work within a team.Description
