Transnet SOC Ltd. is a South African state-owned company that operates the country’s freight transport, rail, port, and pipeline infrastructure. It is a critical component of South Africa’s logistics chain, moving billions of tons of goods annually and facilitating international trade. Transnet invests heavily in infrastructure, with projects including the deepening and widening of ports, the expansion of its pipeline network, and the acquisition of new rolling stock.

The apprenticeship programme equips learners with technical knowledge and hands-on training to prepare them as Qualified Artisans.

Expected Outcomes

Learners will be able to:

• Plan and prepare work sites, equipment, tools, consumables, and materials.
• Use hand, power, and measuring tools.
• Install, assemble, fit, and connect electrical equipment and control systems.
• Test, inspect, commission, maintain, and repair electrical equipment, control systems, and installations.
