Khumani Iron Ore Mine is an open cast mine, located approximately 30km south of the town of Kathu and 250km west of the town of Kimberley, in the Northern Cape province. Assmang is jointly owned and controlled by Assore Limited and African Rainbow Minerals Limited. Khumani mine is Assmang’s primary iron-ore producer. At Khumani Mine there are two basic types of ore, Laminated hematite ore and conglomerate ore, which are exported at 64% FE content via the Saldanha Bay iron ore bulk terminal. Originally designed to produce 10 million tonnes of export-quality iron ore each year, Khumani mine now has the capacity to produce 14 million tonnes however transport via railway to Saldanha is restricted.
Fields of Study Assmang Khumani Mine is inviting applications for its internship programme in the following disciplines:
- Occupational Hygiene / Environmental Health
- Occupational Therapy
- Geology
- Mine Surveying / Mineral Resource Management
- Mechanical / Electrical Engineering
- Mining Engineering
Requirements To be eligible for this internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a South African Citizen
- Currently unemployed
- Have no active criminal records
- Hold a valid Code B driver’s license
Additional Information
- The selected graduates will be appointed for the duration specified in the graduate development programme/agreement.
- Remuneration will be offered as an all-inclusive package.
- Assmang Pty Limited is not obligated to employ graduates on a permanent basis upon completion of their training.
- Successful candidates must arrange their own accommodation and transportation to and from the workplace.
