The Transport Education Training Authority (TETA) is one of South Africa's 21 Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs), responsible for skills development within the transport industry.
Who Should Apply?
You should apply if you are:
- A Grade 12 learner or completed Matric and intend to study one of the listed qualifications.
- A current student registered at a university, university of technology, or TVET college in need of funding for 2026.
- An aviation student with valid SPL, PPL, or CPL.
- A commercial diver with Matric (Senior Certificate).
Eligible institutions include:
- Universities (Public and Private)
- Universities of Technology
- Public and Private TVET Colleges
- Accredited Aviation and Diving Schools
Qualifications Funded by the TETA Bursary
The bursary covers a wide range of studies relevant to the transport sector, including:
- Engineering: Electrical/Electronic, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Aeronautical, Marine
- Business & Finance: Financial Management, Business Administration, Accounting, Risk Management, Operations Management
- Transport & Logistics: Logistics Management, Road Transport Management, Supply Chain Management, Transport Management, Transport Economics, Maritime/Nautical Studies, Freight Forwarding and Customs Compliance
- Technology & Data: ICT, Cloud Computing/Networking, Data Sciences, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Machine Learning
- Environmental & Safety: Environmental Health, Environmental Management, Sustainable Development, Health & Safety Management, Environmental Science
- Law: Maritime Law, Transport Law, General Law
- Postgraduate Research: Master’s (AI, Robotics, Machine Learning, Transport-related research) and Doctoral degrees (Transport sector research)
- Aviation & Diving: PPL, CPL, ATPL, Instructor’s Rating, Instrument Rating, ATPL Hour Building, Commercial Divers Class II, III, IV
What the Bursary Covers
The TETA bursary provides funding for:
- Tuition fees
- Accommodation (on or off campus)
- Transport (where applicable)
