Description
- Oversee and manage surveying activities within the mining operation and provide the mine with specialist Survey services and expertise, as per the Mine Health Safety Act (MHSA) terms related to a 17.2 appointment as per the DMRE Regulations.
- Ensuring accurate measuring, survey guidance to mining sections and data collection to support safe and efficient mining activities and will include the timeous measurement of ILL Pillars and advancing mining faces.
- Ability and competence to oversee / guide the Annual Resource and Reserve Statements Preparation and the creation of new Resource Blocks and to do the annual Depletion from a Survey Department Plan perspective.
- Introduction of the usage of industry standard laser survey equipment underground and the training thereof to the Mining Department.
- Provide guidance and the initiative to get all the mining sections on to 1 common approved grid system due to the associated complications with the current various systems in use.
- Provide input to strategic plans of the section by compiling comprehensive operational plans, converting the Department into an enabler of the overall business strategy of the organisation.
- Develop, enhance, and implement policies, processes and Operational procedures that are within the respective Department aimed at the enhancement of service delivery and overall productivity within the Department.
- Review and measure compliance to Group and SAMREC/IMSSA evaluation and survey standards, maintaining alignment with standards.
- Draft and submit monthly production reports, ensuring accurate and timeous reporting of production results with the end product in the form of fully validated and accurate 3D Solids for further usage in the Mine Planning Department for Spatial Compliance Assessments and for Mine to Mill (M2M) Reconciliation for Resource Model to Survey Calculated / Plant Declared ROM Gold Contents.
- Compile ore accounting reconciliation for the Mineral Resources Management section, to provide leadership with an up-to-date view of resource availability.
- Translate raw draughting information into electronic plans and diagrams, ensuring they are of an acceptable quality according to legislated requirements as per DMRE Regulations.
- Monitor land management and act where required, to provide expert advice on proposed change in land use.
- Set survey procedures for the Mine and disseminate best practices to ensure alignment of all activities with best practice.
- Advise on survey issues and call on specialist survey expertise if required, to resolve relevant problems in the most efficient and effective manner.
- Test applicable new software implementations and maintain current survey services systems to ensure these are aligned with Business Requirements.
- Import and export electronic information from other systems to maintain a current record of electronic deliverables into the applicable systems.
Requirements
- National Diploma (Minerals Survey) B-Tech or BSc Degree (Mine Survey)
- Advanced qualification in Mineral Resource Management will be advantageous
- Mine Surveyor’s Certificate of Competency
- Minimum 8 years management experience of which 5 years should be in a mining environment
- Proven ability in 2.12.1 position
- Proven ability in project management
- Registered with IMSSA
- Create fully validated 3D Solids (Studio Survey and AMINE)
- No criminal record
- Valid physical certificate of fitness
