It is divided into several branches and departments in order to expedite services for the city. Johannesburg is a divided city: the poor mostly live in the southern suburbs or on the peripheries of the far north, and the middle class live largely in the suburbs of the central and north. Around 20% of the city lives in abject poverty in informal settlements that lack proper roads, electricity, or any other kind of direct municipal service. Another 40% live in inadequate housing with insufficient municipal housing.

The City of Johannesburg (CoJ), Group Corporate and Shared Services Department is offering Internship opportunities to suitably qualified and unemployed graduates. The Interships will run for a a period NOT exceeding eighteen (18) months.

Position Title: Intake Officer Internship

Duration: 18 Months contract

Location: Metro Centre, 158 Civic Blvd., Braamfontein

Primary Function: Provide effective and comprehensive administrative support and logistical services to Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) unit to ensure the efficiency of the business unit.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate administrative requirements associated with employee assistance Programme functionality;
  • Promote the efficiency of the Employee Assistance Programme;
  • Collate and prepare qualitative and quantitative information for inclusion into specific statutory reports;

Requirements:

  • National Diploma / Degree (NQF Level 6 or higher) in:
  1. Public Administration
  2. Business Administration
  3. Office Administration
  4. Administration
  • Unemployed graduates who have not participated in an internship programme previously.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Computer Literacy – MS Office Applications;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication;
  • Ability to work under pressure and Independently
  • High level of confidentially and organisation skills;
