Novus Media Sport is looking for a Content Manager with sub-editing expertise to help shape the voice of South Africa’s leading soccer publications. This is your opportunity to work on KickOff and Soccer Laduma, two iconic soccer brands that reach millions of readers. Form part of a dynamic newsroom with a digital-first and innovative culture, where hands-on experience with AI and multimedia is at the core of the production desk. Be at the forefront of sports journalism in unlocking the future of football storytelling. This is an on-site role based at our Cape Town head office (Western Cape), reporting to the Digital Officer.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Play a central role in our production desk, shaping local, international, lifestyle and social media football content.
  • Manage, edit and publish daily content across web and social platforms in line with the publications’ best practice.
  • Sub-edit copy to ensure accuracy, clarity and style consistency.
  • Collaborate with sales and commercial teams to optimise native campaigns.
  • Leverage AI tools for content creation, optimisation and multimedia storytelling.
  • Monitor performance data and adjust strategy to maximise reach and engagement.

Educational Requirements

  • Completed a national degree or diploma in English, journalism or media studies, or demonstrate the ability to deliver on the expectations.

Experience Requirements

  • 3+ years’ experience in content management and subbing.
  • Proven experience managing content across a CMS and mainstream social media platforms, with a strong grasp of best practices.

Skills and Competencies

  • Experience and knowledge working on a CMS.
  • Understanding and knowledge of using social media publishing tools.
  • Deep understanding of digital media best practices, including SEO and GEO.
  • Good time management and the ability to multitask effectively and follow through.
  • Strong organisational, administrative and communication skills.
  • Ability to source, evaluate and interpret data.
  • Logical thinker who can analyse situations and come up with the right solutions.
  • Ability to work under pressure due to intense online environment.
  • Able to make sound decisions independently and within teams.
  • Reliable, inquisitive, and proactive in fast-paced environments.
  • Have a strong command of the English language, with the ability to correct and enhance spelling, grammar and creative writing.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure clean copy across platforms.
