RCL FOODS is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Continuous Improvement Intern (Fixed term contract) to join our Speciality Division. The role will be based in Spartan and will report to the Continuous Improvement Specialist. The intern will assist in analysing and improving our production processes, focusing on resource usage, production efficiency, and material usage variance. This role is ideal for someone with a strong analytical mindset and a passion for process improvement.

Job Description RCL FOODS is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Continuous Improvement Intern (Fixed term contract) to join our Speciality Division. The role will be based in Spartan and will report to the Continuous Improvement Specialist. The intern will assist in analysing and improving our production processes, focusing on resource usage, production efficiency, and material usage variance. This role is ideal for someone with a strong analytical mindset and a passion for process improvement.
Minimum Requirements
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management or a related field i.e., Chemical Engineering.
  • Previous experience, coursework or project in continuous improvement, process optimization, or related areas is a plus.
  • Proficiency in PowerBI (preferred) or Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and provide actionable insights (Will be tested).
  • Knowledge of Lean principles and DMAIC methodology (Will be tested).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

 

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Resource Usage vs Production Efficiency Report: Utilize PowerBI (preferred) or Excel to create detailed reports comparing resource usage to production efficiency. Provide insights on data and identify trends to support decision-making.
  • Material Usage Variance: Analyse material usage to identify variances and recommend improvements to reduce waste and optimize resource utilization.
  • Time & Motion Studies: Conduct time and motion studies to evaluate the efficiency of production processes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Lean & DMAIC Knowledge: Apply Lean principles and DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control) methodology to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
