The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment is mandated to give effect to the right of citizens to an environment that is not harmful to their health or wellbeing, and to have the environment protected for the benefit of present and future generations. To this end, the department provides leadership in environmental management, conservation and protection towards sustainability for the benefit of South Africans and the global community.
Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) invites suitable graduates to apply for 6-month Internship Programme for 2025.
This initiative aims to promote employment equity and youth development, with a strong focus on inclusion for women (60%) and persons with disabilities (2%). If you have completed a minimum 3-year tertiary qualification in one of the listed environmental or science fields, this is your opportunity to gain practical experience while earning a monthly stipend.
Fields of Study/Qualifications Accepted
Applicants must hold a 3-year formal qualification in any of the following fields:
- Environmental Management
- Environmental Science
- Occupational Health and Safety
- Horticulture
- Ecologist
- Botany
- Nature Conservation and Forestry
- Natural Sciences and Biological Sciences
- Agricultural Sciences
Internship Eligibility Criteria
To be considered, applicants must:
- Be unemployed South African citizens (youth only)
- Not have previously participated in an internship programme in the Public Service
- Hold a minimum 3-year qualification from a recognised Higher Education Institution
- Submit a CV that lists major subjects or include an academic transcript
Only shortlisted applicants will be requested to submit certified copies of ID, qualifications, and recent academic records.
