The Epworth Internship Programme offers a structured platform for interns to apply theoretical learning in practical classroom settings. Interns are mentored by experienced teachers and gain well-rounded exposure to classroom teaching, sports coaching, tutoring, and school administration.

Who Should Apply

Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Currently enrolled at a recognized tertiary institution studying toward a teaching qualification in Foundation, Intermediate, or Senior Phase
  • Registered with SACE (South African Council for Educators)
  • Must demonstrate:
    • A genuine interest in education
    • Strong moral character (integrity, honesty, reliability, confidentiality)
    • Willingness to work in teams and align with the ethos and values of Epworth School
    • A clear criminal record

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with Class Teaching: Support classroom teachers, assist with lessons and student learning
  • Preparation & Set-up: Organize learning materials and resources for lessons
  • General Administration: Handle tasks such as recordkeeping and lesson preparation
  • Professional Development: Attend workshops and training sessions to grow teaching skills
  • Sports Coaching: Assist with coaching and developing learners’ athletic abilities
  • Academic Tutoring: Support individual learners needing academic assistance
