Established in 1993, ACSA manages South Africa’s three main international gateways, as well as several smaller domestic airports. The company’s mandate is to acquire, establish, develop, maintain, and operate airports and related services to support the socio-economic development of South Africa.

Key Performance Output

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Supervisor Fire and Rescue, and will be responsible but not limited to the following:

  • Maintain operational readiness of resources including vehicle, equipment and infrastructure to comply with Airport category.
  • Operate Fire Fighting and Rescue Equipment and Tools
  • Ensure understanding of vehicle and/or equipment and limitations to ensure utilisation within design parameters.
  • Conduct routine inspections, maintenance and reporting of defects when required and follow up.
  • Adhere to relevant statutory/legislative regulations, SOP’s, operational standards, ACSA policies and procedures, employee manual and Service Level Agreements/MOU to ensure business continuity.
  • Activate and respond to all relevant incidents and accidents within area of jurisdiction, scope of training and expertise.
  • Conduct emergency standbys to prevent incidents and accidents as requested.
  • Analyse, Monitor, identify, mitigate and report areas of non-compliance (HIRA).Conduct Runway, Taxi-way and Apron inspections and patrols to reduce potential hazards, notify ATC and take remedial action if necessary.
  • Build, support and maintain healthy diverse internal (peers, unions, team) as well as external (service providers etc.) relationships and implement remedial actions where required to ensure achievement of organisational goals and enhance emergency response preparedness.
  • Record and capture information for billing purposes. (Flight Information Display screens real-time).
  • Participate in educational Fire and Safety awareness programmes.
  • Maintain level of physical fitness as per ACSA policies and procedures.
  • Attend identified development programmes for succession planning purposes.
  • Attend mandatory Aviation training as per ACSA policies and procedures and legislative requirements.
  • Respond to all medical emergencies within area of jurisdiction and scope of training.

Technical Skills and Experience

The following skills and experience or the equivalent of such will be required:

  • National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) is essential
  • SAESI Fire Fighter 1 is essential
  • SAESI Hazmat Awareness is essential
  • HPCSA BAA/ First Aid Level 3 is essential
  • 1 month Aircraft marshalling Operational experience is essential
  • Up to 6 months Fire Fighting & Rescue Operational experience is recommended
  • Valid Code B driver’s licence
  • AVOP ATC – PARTAC licence
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
