The Senqu Local Municipality is a Category B municipality located in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. It is one of three local municipalities in the Joe Gqabi District and derives its name from the Sesotho name for the Orange River, which is Senqu. The municipal headquarters are in Lady Grey. The municipal council is responsible for strategic direction, prioritizing high-quality service delivery, sustainable infrastructure development, and local economic growth to improve living conditions for residents.

About the Internship Programme

The Senqu Municipality Internship Programme is designed to provide graduates with exposure to municipal operations while helping them gain valuable practical experience. The internship runs for 36 months (3 years) and gives participants the opportunity to develop key administrative and management skills in the Corporate Services Department.

As part of the programme, interns will work under experienced municipal officials, gaining insight into public sector operations, service delivery, and local governance.

• This is not a permanent position. The contract will automatically expire at the end of the 36-month term.
• Only applicants residing within the Senqu area of jurisdiction will be considered.
• Non-compliance with requirements will result in disqualification.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Hold a National Diploma in Human Resources Management (3 years)
• Be a South African citizen
• Reside within the Senqu Local Municipality jurisdiction
• Have strong communication and administrative skills
• Be willing to learn and work under supervision
