Oxford University Press invites graduates to apply for Publishing Internships in Goodwood, South Africa.

(Internship position: 12 Month Contract)

The intention is to give practical work experience to graduates who are in their last year of study and require exposure in a work environment. Successful interns will be expected to complete a 12-month contract commencing February 2025 and terminating in January 2026.

This post is based in Goodwood, Cape Town.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Book design and production
  • Complete end to end design and artwork commissioning process management
  • Collaboration with publishing, manufacturing and design
  • Enhancing design skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign)
  • Art direction, sourcing and management
  • Prepress knowledge
  • Time and Project Management skills
  • Budget management
  • Commissioning freelancers, contracts, rates
  • Digital Publishing i.e. ePubs, online course material etc.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Certificate in Graphic design or related field
  • Knowledge of design software such as Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Computer literacy – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Sound communication and presentation skills
  • Effective time management
  • Ability to multi-task and perform under pressure
  • Ability to work in a team
  • South African citizen
  • Able to travel locally and have access to reliable transport
  • Innovative and agile
