Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Operating and Process Control:
- Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others in his / her designated area
- Operating equipment in packaging process areas according to VPO standards
- Constantly reviewing process performance against target, and recording short stops and correcting any out of controls using the VPO tools
- Monitoring compliance to FS checks as described in the FS management system
- Review and improve Quality at Source Standard Operating Practices
- Responsible for Quality at Source including training on and check the execution of standards by the operation executed by production teams
- Verify compliance with daily routines as per Agenda of Routine Execute Daily schedule: Production, changeovers, cleaning and lubrication, autonomous maintenance inspections and fixes that impact the quality delivery of production lines
- Manage personal development plan
Maintenance of Plant and Equipment :
- Carrying out autonomous operations as defined for the process areas
- Operate equipment according to SOP’s
- Owner of the performance of the assigned equipment, including input and output, process indicators and its uptime
- Identify defective plant, and report these through to the Process Artisan or Team Leader to assist with resolution
- Assisting the Process Artisan/Machine specialist in verifying improvement of quality performance yielded repairs/process changes carried out on shift
Quality Control and Analysis:
- Responsible for quality packaged product within designated work area
- Responsible for executing required quality checks and analyses, and recording the results on the appropriate information system
- Accountable for all quality process checks to be done as per prescribed frequency for each shift
- Ensure to the results using the VPO tools supplied
Communication:
- Actively participate in shift meetings, asking questions to test understanding and contributing suggestions. Making use of the action logs to record issues, problems and improvement opportunities
- Make use of relevant communication media (out-of-control shift logbook) to stay informed and inform others of issues
- Required to escalate out-of-control processes to Team Leader or Process Artisan and Packaging Quality Specialist
- Complete required hand over to incoming shift team members, ensuring the issues relating to plant performance, quality and maintenance are communicated
Problem-Solving:
- Ensure Problem solving for all out-of-control processes using the VPO problem solving tools to resolve and record the issues
- Ensure QFR and 5why are done timeously
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12
- Mechanical aptitude
- Machine specific experience
- Technical qualification (N3 or similar)
- At least 1-3 years factory production experience
- Demonstrated experience in shift production
- A superior performance track record indicating a disciplined work ethic with passion for problem solving and continuous improvement
