Minimum Qualifications / Experience:

  • Diploma in Payroll, HR or Finance
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in a payroll office.
  • Proven work experience as a Payroll Administrator or similar role.
  • SAGE 300 payroll experience preferred.
  • Experience with Time & Attendance systems (Webregister preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, intermediate to advanced excel.
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation and experience with bargaining units.
  • Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Able to prioritize and multitask effectively.
  • Self-disciplined and motivated.
  • Honesty

Duties and Responsibilities (Not limited to):

  • The Payroll Officer will be responsible for the full payroll function for approximately 400 employees on SAGE 300, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely payment.
  • The role requires meticulous attention to detail, confidentiality, and strong organisational skills.
  • End-to-end processing of monthly payrolls for ±400 staff.
  • Capturing and maintaining accurate employee data on the payroll and leave planning systems.
  • Verifying and reconciling all payroll information prior to processing.
  • Processing salary increases, back pay calculations and termination payments.
  • Reviewing timesheets, wage computations, and resolving payroll discrepancies.
  • Conducting monthly consolidations, reconciliations and payments to third parties (SARS, pension, medical aid, etc.).
  • Preparing and submitting EMP201 reports, mid-year and year-end submissions, and statutory reports.
  • Ensuring compliance with tax, labour legislation, and statutory deadlines.
  • Preparing and distributing monthly and weekly payroll reports for Finance and People Management.
  • Administering annual IRP5/IT3(a) documents for employees.
  • Supporting onboarding and offboarding processes with accurate payroll integration.
  • Maintaining accurate filing systems for all payroll documentation.
  • Providing support for internal and external audits.
  • Safeguarding payroll operations by maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Proactively identifying and resolving payroll-related risks or problems.
