The Zulu word eThekwini means “ocean and bay lagoon”. The landscape features a warm, subtropical climate, extensive beaches, hilly regions, gorges, and ravines. The municipality’s composition of urban, semi-urban, and rural environments presents a challenge for sustainable development.
Key Responsibility Areas:
- Provide technical/professional advice on electricity issues.
- Prepare, monitor and control capital and operating budgets.
- Actively support and promote safety and accident prevention.
- Maintain, enhance and encourage good public relations.
- Monitor staff performance.
- Undertakes the recruitment, training and development of staff and learners.
- Manage projects allocated to consultants and contractors.
- Comply with legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Investigate and implement new systems, practices and technology.
- Deal with ad-hoc issues that arise within the division.
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor of Technology or Bachelor of Engineering Technology (NQF Level 7) in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current).
- Registered as a Professional Electrical Engineering Technologist with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
- Valid First Aid certificate or be able to obtain one within 6 months from date of appointment.
- Valid motor vehicle driving license.
- 3 Years relevant post qualification experience.
