The Desmond Tutu Health Foundation, housed within the Desmond Tutu HIV Centre (DTHC) at the University of Cape Town, is committed to the pursuit of excellence in research, treatment, training and prevention of HIV and related infections in Southern Africa. Fully self- funded by grants and other investigator raised funds, our shared vision for the future includes the continuation of current TB/HIV related work of treatment, care, prevention and education particularly in the most vulnerable populations, whilst staying abreast of new developments and continuing to contribute to cutting edge information in HIV and TB public health, social and clinical research.

The main purpose of this role will be to take responsibility on day-to-day nursing functions within a research-related environment, such as conducting study visits, study product / treatment administration with accompanying documentation of procedures, and comprehensive sexual and reproductive services.
Minimum Requirements:
- Nursing Degree or Diploma and Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Registered Nurse
- At least 2-3 years of nursing experience
- Training in contraception including Implant insertion and removal
- Proficient in phlebotomy techniques
- Knowledge of collection of various types of laboratory samples
- Knowledge of HIV/AIDS and sexual transmitted infections
- Knowledge of study protocols and regulations
- Computer literacy with sound knowledge of email, excel, word processing and internet
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication
- Fluency in English and or isiXhosa and or Afrikaans
- Ability to work well under pressure and to maintain effectiveness during changing conditions
- Ability to work harmoniously with participants of diverse backgrounds
- Must be able to work as a member of a team and independently
