The company offers a full suite of services for the underground mining industry, including shaft sinking, mine development, raiseboring, and general underground construction.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Matric certificate / equivalent
  • Diploma / Degree in Health and Safety Management
  • Blasting certificate or Valid Trade Test
  • Valid driver’s license
  • COMSOC 01 & COMSOC 02 or equivalent
  • Computer literate (Proficient in MS Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • 3 years’ experience in an underground Mining Environment
  • 3 years’ experience in operational safety Management systems and ISO requirements
  • Experience in Raiseboring operations
  • Knowledge of industry and related legislation and standards
  • Emergency preparedness and response management knowledge and experience in the Mining Sector
  • Effective Team Player and Effective Self-Management

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform roles and responsibilities of the Safety Officer as depicted in the MHSA regulation
  • Conduct Safety inspections
  • Investigate incidents & accidents
  • Maintain procedures for the operation in specific areas of responsibility, ensure adherence to Group Standards and Legal Requirements
  • Communicate Health and Safety Awareness and Campaigns and on the job coaching of legislative and procedural requirements
  • Attend meetings with the OHS Manager to give feedback and receive instructions to improve safety performance in area of responsibility
  • Assist the OHS Manager with information gathering related to mandatory reports
  • Assist HODs and lead internal incident/accident investigations
  • Participate in 2nd and 3rd party health and safety audits in areas of responsibility
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships and an effective communication system with the SHEQT Function
  • Manage and report on non-compliance issues
