The eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality is a Category A metropolitan municipality in the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal. It includes the city of Durban and surrounding towns. eThekwini is situated on the eastern coast of South Africa and is the third-largest metropolitan municipality in the country. The area is geographically diverse, with hills, ravines, and gorges.

This programme is designed to provide graduates with comprehensive, three-year in-house training endorsed by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA). Successful candidates will undergo training within the municipality’s treasury departments, preparing them for SAICA Articles.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation of draft estimate reports
• Assisting in the preparation of the Annual Report and Annual Financial Statements (AFS)
• Drafting the annual and multi-year operating and capital budgets
• Managing compensation for occupational injuries and disease costs
• Performing reconciliations for financial reporting
• Providing for bad and doubtful debts

Minimum Requirements

• BCom Degree (NQF Level 7) or equivalent with Accounting as a major
