MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Diploma in Information Technology at an NQF level 6.
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience

Certificates:

  • VMware Certified Professional and/or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate

ADVANTAGEOUS:

  • ITIL Foundation.
  • VMware Administration: Expertise in vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, Site Recovery Manager (SRM).
  • Patch Management: Managing security and application patching using Microsoft Intune, ManageEngine, and SCCM.
  • Security & Compliance: Ensuring PCI-DSS, ISO 27001 compliance through automated security updates.
  • Server Builds & Migrations: Experience with server cloning, Sysprep, domain registrations, and OS upgrades.
  • Monitoring & Automation: Utilizing SCOM, SCCM, PowerShell, Ansible, and VMware vRealize for proactive monitoring and automation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Management of systems in accordance with ITIL Methodologies:

  • Respond to calls and requests logged on Helpdesk timeously and resolve them accordingly.
  • SLA Management for Service Availability
  • Follow the change management, incident management and problem management according to the ITIL Framework.
  • Continuous Improvements

Operational

  • Provide solution design and technical recommendations for VMware infrastructure.
  • Support and maintain VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) for disaster recovery (DR) testing and configuration.
  • Implement and manage server migrations and cloning, including Sysprep, domain registrations, and patching.
  • Maintain N-1 compliance for server OS upgrades to support PCI-DSS certification.
  • Implement and maintain centralized license solutions (KMS) and Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) authentication.
  • Manage server security patching (create deployment packages, build release notes, and deploy to Test, Dev, and Production environments for 1000+ servers).
  • Manage server application patching (e.g., Internet Explorer, IIS, .Net) across all servers.
  • Oversee desktop security patch management for 1000+ endpoints (desktops/laptops).
  • Develop and maintain patch schedules for continuous system security.
  • Ensure compliance with security frameworks (PCI-DSS, NIST, ISO 27001).
  • Build and deploy new servers, including domain registration and patching.
  • Maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Low-Level Designs (LLDs) for SCCM, SCOM, Manage Engine, Intune and server OS standards.
  • Monitor system health and performance using SCOM (System Centre Operations Manager).

Reporting

  • Daily System Availability KPI Reports: Generate and provide statistical reports on VMware infrastructure and systems monitoring performance.
  • Incident Management Reporting: Track and report on all logged, open, and closed tickets related to VMware and Windows Server environments.
  • Ad-Hoc Business Reports: Compile and deliver custom reports based on business and ICT requirements.
  • Automated Incident Reporting: Ensure daily automated reports of logged Incident Tickets using the Incident Management Tool (ITSM).
  • Security & Patch Management Reports: Document and track patch deployment status for server security and compliance.
  • Disaster Recovery & Backup Reports: Provide insights on SRM (Site Recovery Manager) testing, backup success rates, and DR readiness.
