The Eastern Cape Department of Social Development (ECDS) is the provincial government body responsible for social welfare services and programs in South Africa's Eastern Cape province.
Requirements
- National Senior Certificate plus Bachelor of Social Work. Latest proof of registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) as Social Worker.
- Minimum of 7 (seven) years of appropriate experience in Social Work after registration as a Social Worker with the SACSSP. A valid South African driver’s license.
Duties
- Understanding social dynamics: Must ensure that supervisees challenge structural sources of poverty, inequality, oppression, discrimination and exclusion.
- Understanding human behavior and social systems: Must have knowledge and understanding of more complex and advanced human behavior and social systems.
- Social work Intervention: Must ensure that supervisees intervene efficiently and effectively at points where people interact with their environments in order to promote social well-being.
- Social empowerment: Must ensure that supervisees assist, advocate and empower individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities to enhance their social functioning and their problem-solving capacities, prevent and alleviate problems.
