Social Housing Regulatory Authority (SHRA) is a public entity in South Africa responsible for investing in, regulating, and promoting the social housing sector. It is an entity of the Department of Human Settlements and was established under the Social Housing Act 16 of 2008. Accrediting and regulating Social Housing Institutions (SHIs) and other delivery agents to ensure compliance with the Social Housing Act. It also monitors compliance, conducts audits, and investigates maladministration.
This two-year internship will give young graduates exposure in the Strategy, Research, and Planning (SRP) Unit at SHRA’s Johannesburg office.

Strategic Research and Planning (SRP) Intern – X1 Post
- Department: Strategy, Research and Planning
- Reporting To: SRP Manager
- Location: Johannesburg
- Experience Required: None (entry-level)
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and review of strategic plans and frameworks.
- Support with performance monitoring and evaluations of SHRA programmes and projects.
- Conduct policy research and contribute to policy reviews and recommendations.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and documents for internal and external use.
- Provide administrative support to the SRP unit.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Relevant qualification in Public Policy, Strategic Planning, Research, Social Sciences, or related fields.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Analytical thinking with attention to detail.
- South African citizen under 35 years of age.
