SANRAL seeks to enhance your travel and road experience by strategically planning, designing, constructing, and maintaining the national road network for social development and economic growth in SA.
The purpose of this graduate opportunity is to provide exposure to the Statutory Control Department which fulfils the control function on the national road network within the Western and Northern Cape Provinces. Interns will be introduced to SANRAL’s business processes, the underlying legal provisions, and the relevant factors considered in processing public applications.
Minimum Requirements
- A National Diploma in Civil Engineering / Land Survey / Town and Regional Planning / Paralegal qualification.
- No prior work experience required.
- Must not have participated in any internship programme before.
Key Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Statutory Control Officer, interns will:
- Assist with processing wayleave applications for services in the national road reserve (Section 48).
- Assist with land subdivision applications (Section 49).
- Assist with applications and approvals for outdoor advertising and removal of illegal adverts (Section 50).
- Assist with applications and approvals for tourism-related road signs.
- Assist with reporting of claims for damage to national roads.
- Engage with project managers/route managers to obtain inputs for processing applications.
- Provide feedback on queries regarding national road legislation.

- Placements will be in line with SANRAL’s internship policy, with proximity to the relevant SANRAL offices considered.
