The company was established in 1953 and handles over 3 billion litres of customer products annually. It is a division of the larger Bidvest Group. With over seventy customers, we handle more than 150 types of product – stored in over 560-tanks at our Port of Durban, Port of Richard’s Bay, and Isando sites. This gives us an impressive storage capacity of approximately 868,000 cubic metres.
Job Advert Summary
- Bidvest Tank Terminals is looking to fill a Training Supervisor position, to be based within the Durban Business Unit and reporting to the Training Manager. The incumbent in this position will be responsible for providing a service in all areas of Training and ensuring that the Durban training centre is well supervised, with effective coordination and administration of all activities.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric
- Skills Facilitation, Assessor and Moderator Certification.
- Chemical Engineering/Chemical Plant Operations/Safety Qualification
- Minimum 5 years of previous training/supervisory experience
- ODETDP/ Training related Diploma/Degree would be advantageous.
- Thorough understanding of BTT operations and experience dealing with people,
- 3 years of handling bulk chemicals and tank farm experience
Duties and Responsibilities
- Liaise with stakeholders to determine training needs and ensure compliance with BTT policies and procedures
- Oversee daily activities of the Durban training centre and supervise staff
- Plan and coordinate all internal and external training interventions,
- Maintain training facilities and resources, keeping training records and databases up to date
- Conduct regular meetings to discuss training plans and audit feedback.
- Assist with BTT course and Training Centre accreditation
- Provide accurate stats and monthly reports to the Training Manager
- Deliver theoretical and practical training, managing evaluations and addressing questions
- Collaborate with Supervisors to identify training needs and prepare candidates
- Plan weekly training schedules and maintain records of employee activities
- Ensure compliance with BTT Standards during training and assist with certification
- Ensures all internal training material is updated, relevant and compliant with legislation and BTT Standards & Procedures (in consultation with, and signed off by, BTT subject matters)
- Record all employee training activities using training registers, checklists, PJOs, evaluations, etc
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required
- Attention to detail, and accuracy with figures
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to speak Zulu preferable
- Good administrative and report-writing skills
- Thorough understanding of BTT operations
- Good working knowledge of computer systems
- Knowledge of Skills Development Legislation
- Working knowledge of Chemical sector and reporting requirements
- Thorough knowledge of all sites, including all aspects of Safety, Health, Environment and Fire systems on site
- OHS Act knowledge and ISO Systems
