Zululand Anthracite Colliery (ZAC) is the sole producer of Prime anthracite in South Africa. ZAC’s unique high qualities are the highest Ranking, lowest ash and lowest volatile anthracite produced in South Africa. ZAC’s location, being close to Richards Bay, positions us well for both exports and service the local South African markets.

The Zululand Anthracite Colliery (ZAC) Bursary Programme is offering bursaries to students interested in pursuing studies related to the mining industry. This is a great opportunity for students from disadvantaged backgrounds who are looking to further their education in mining and engineering fields.

Fields of Study Supported

Bursaries will be awarded for studies in the following fields:

    • BCom (1 bursary)Environmental Management (2 bursaries)Mechanical Engineering (1 bursary)Mining & Engineering (1 bursary)

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the Zululand Anthracite Colliery Bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    1. South African Citizen: You must be a South African citizen.Field of Study: You must be studying toward a qualification in one of the fields listed above.Accredited Institution: You must be studying at a tertiary institution in South Africa that is registered and accredited with the Council for Higher Education (CHE).Academic Performance: You must have a strong academic record, with a minimum of 65% in all modules completed to date.Financial Need: You must be from a previously disadvantaged background and demonstrate financial need.Motivational Letter: You must submit a motivational letter outlining your academic abilities, financial need, and future career goals.
