Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Front Shop Assistant to join its team at Makhado Crossing in Limpopo. Key Responsibilities
Merchandising and Shelf Management
- Ensure products are fully stocked and attractively displayed at all times.
- Maintain neat, organised, and visually appealing shelves.
- Monitor product expiry dates and remove expired merchandise.
- Replenish stock promptly to maximise product availability and sales opportunities.
- Ensure product labels and pricing are accurate and clearly displayed.
- Report pricing discrepancies to management for immediate correction.
Stock Control and Inventory Support
- Store and pack incoming stock in designated areas.
- Assist with stock rotation according to company procedures.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages or out-of-stock items.
- Identify and report damaged or expired stock.
- Assist with stock counts and stocktaking activities.
- Support the loading and off-loading of stock deliveries.
- Ensure packaging materials and boxes are disposed of correctly after unpacking.
Customer Service Excellence
- Provide friendly, professional, and helpful assistance to customers.
- Assist customers in locating products and answering queries.
- Follow up on customer requests relating to out-of-stock items.
- Build positive customer relationships through excellent service delivery.
- Report customer compliments and complaints to management.
- Maintain company customer service standards at all times.
Point of Sale and Cash Handling
- Process customer purchases accurately and efficiently.
- Accept and process payments including cash, cards, vouchers, coupons, and approved payment methods.
- Process loyalty card transactions and partner programme rewards.
- Ensure accurate cash handling procedures are followed.
- Secure cash according to company standard operating procedures.
- Obtain approval for line voids and price changes where required.
- Maintain accurate till balances and transaction records.
Operational Support
- Assist with back-shopping and store recovery activities.
- Ensure all outgoing merchandise is scanned and paid for.
- Support team members during busy trading periods.
- Assist in training new employees when required.
- Adhere to company productivity benchmarks and performance standards.
Housekeeping and Safety
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the store.
- Keep stockrooms organised, neat, and safe.
- Follow all health and safety procedures.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
- Ensure compliance with Dis-Chem’s dress code and personal appearance standards.
Minimum Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Grade 12 (Matric) or Senior Certificate.
- 0–6 months of retail work experience.
- Basic understanding of customer service principles.
- Ability to work in a retail environment.
Advantageous Qualifications
- 1 year of retail experience.
- Certification in Retail Business Management.
- Previous experience in customer service or merchandising roles.
