Job Advert Summary

  • Join our team at Exxaro as a Project Manager in Lephalale, Limpopo, South Africa, and lead exciting new initiatives within our Grootegeluk Coal business unit.
  • This temporary role involves directing and managing project development, from planning to execution, within the Portfolio Management Office.
  • You will ensure customer satisfaction by proactively managing changes in project scope, and risks, while adhering to best practices and legal compliances such as MHSA, MPRDA, and OHSA.
  • Your key responsibilities will include auditing project progress, implementing effective people management strategies, ensuring optimal financial and resource management, and maintaining rigorous compliance and governance standards.
  • We’re looking for a professional with at least six to eight years of project management experience within an Information Technology or Industrial environment.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and a project management certificate are essential, while further qualifications are advantageous.
  • This role requires someone who thrives on creativity and collaboration, is committed to excellence, and prioritises safety and ethical stewardship.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (Essential/Minimum)
  • Certificate in Project Management (Essential/Minimum)
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Honors) in a relevant field (Recommended/Desirable)
  • Minimum of 6 to 8 years of project management experience within Information Technology or Industrial environments (Essential/Minimum)
  • Experience in managing Information Technology/Information Management projects in heavy industry, mining, or production environments
  • Project Management Professional certification (Recommended/Desirable)
  • Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
  • Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
  • Proven ability to manage changes in project scope and risks proactively
  • Experience in applying and ensuring compliance with MHSA, MPRDA, and OHSA standards

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage project development phases, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets while meeting strategic business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations such as MHSA, MPRDA, and OHSA, implementing safeguards to uphold legal and quality standards.
  • Conduct regular audits to assess project progress, compliance, and alignment with corporate governance standards, providing feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive project plans, resource allocation strategies, and risk management protocols to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Lead and mentor project teams, fostering a collaborative work environment and supporting professional development opportunities.
  • Supervise the operational aspects of projects, ensuring objectives are met in alignment with agreed service delivery agreements.
  • Manage financial resources effectively, optimising budget utilisation and identifying potential cost-saving opportunities.
  • Make data-driven decisions, facilitating the application of best practices and innovative solutions to enhance project performance.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather feedback, ensure project satisfaction, and promote continuous improvement in service delivery.
  • Promote a culture of safety and health, ensuring compliance with safety policies and contributing to a safe working environment.
