Requirements
- Grade 12
- National Diploma in Fire Technology
- Computer Literacy and proficient in MS Word, Excel and Power Point
- Code C Driver’s License
- Seven (7) to Ten (10) years relevant experience in all functions of fire department, of which five (5) years must be in middle management capacity
- Good presentation and project management skills.
- Good communication, interpersonal and conflict management skill
- Good understanding and interpretation of relevant legislation, policies, procedures and regulations.
- The successful applicant / candidate must possess competencies as published in Annexure A of the Local Government: Municipal
- Staff Regulations promulgated in Government Gazette 45181 of 20 September 2021
Key Performance Areas
- Establish and manage the medium to long-term objectives and public safety priorities of a productive and cost-effective department
- Develop organizational principles and processes for the delivery of emergency services in the area of jurisdiction.
- Establish and maintain effective administrative systems and processes for the department.
- Ensure the principles of fire technology are applied in existing and proposed developments in the building environment of the municipality
- To manage departmental staff so that they are able to meet their objectives as stated in their job descriptions.
- Conduct risk assessments and hazard identification across the municipality
- Promote community awareness on fire safety and disaster preparedness
- Ensure effective, timely, and coordinated response to fires and emergencies
- Maintain operational readiness of personnel, vehicles, and equipment
- Coordinate multi-agency emergency responses EMS, police, disaster management.
- Participate in municipal and regional disaster management structures.
