Website Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent (MISA)
The Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent (MISA) is a national government component constituted in terms of Section 7(2) Schedule 3 of the Public Service Act of 1994 (as amended), accountable to the Minister for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs. This initiative is an integral part of the Department of Cooperative Governance’s programme towards improving municipal infrastructure provisioning and maintenance for accelerated service delivery, in line with the objectives of the Back to Basics Strategy.

Eligible Institutions: Public Universities, Universities of Technology, and TVET Colleges
Funding Covers: Tuition, registration, accommodation, meals, learning materials, and more (based on financial need)

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be South African citizens (submit a certified copy of ID)
- Be currently in or accepted to study one of the approved disciplines at a public institution
- Have completed Grade 12 (submit certified copy of certificate)
- Submit academic transcripts (if currently or previously studying)
- Provide proof of registration or acceptance on an institutional letterhead
- Submit proof of residence
- Have a total household income under R600 000 per annum
- Submit affidavits/payslips of parents/guardians or proof of unemployment
- Submit a financial statement from their institution (if already studying)
Preference Will Be Given To:
- Youth from rural areas
- Individuals from previously disadvantaged backgrounds
- Students with disabilities
