The DWS operates based on the mandate set out in South Africa’s National Water Act of 1998 and the Water Services Act of 1997.

Requirements and Expectations
Minimum Requirements
- NQF Level 4 or 5 qualification (Senior/Grade 12 certificate or equivalent).
- Computer literacy (MS Office Suite).
- Knowledge of financial management and the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) will serve as an added advantage.
- Strong organisational, interpersonal, and people management skills.
- Good communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Client orientation and customer focus.
- Knowledge of telephone etiquette and front-office operations.
- Ability to handle diverse clients professionally and maintain ethical conduct.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive and direct telephone calls and messages to the appropriate staff or departments.
- Welcome and guide clients and visitors to the correct offices or units.
- Provide accurate and relevant information to internal and external clients.
- Operate and maintain office equipment such as fax machines, photocopiers, and telecommunication systems.
- Maintain an updated telephone directory and ensure the accuracy of contact details.
- Control and update the visitor register at the reception area.
- Liaise professionally with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery.
