Rheinmetall Denel Munition (Pty) Ltd (RDM) is a joint venture between Germany’s Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbH (51%) and South Africa’s state-owned Denel (Pty) Ltd. (49%). PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Fleet & Equipment Asset Intern will learn and supporting on asset tracking, preventative maintenance scheduling, and ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations. The role will assist in centralising the management of mobile assets by ensuring pre-shift inspections, operator logs, and service records are accurately maintained to reduce safety risks, extend equipment lifespan, and improve operational efficiency.

KEY PERFOMANCE AREAS:

  • Support the tracking and monitoring of company vehicles and Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
  • Assist in maintaining accurate asset registers and equipment utilisation records.
  • Support the coordination and scheduling of preventative maintenance and servicing of equipment.
  • Assist in ensuring that pre-shift inspections and operator logbooks are completed and properly recorded.
  • Support monitoring of compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements related to equipment operation.
  • Assist in maintaining records related to equipment operators and usage to ensure accountability.
  • Support the identification and reporting of equipment faults, maintenance requirements, and potential safety risks.
  • Assist with analysing equipment logs to identify trends and potential safety improvements.
  • Adhere to all applicable legislation within RDM.
  • Adheres and implements Rheinmetall Denel Munitions Policies and Procedures and ensures compliance to ISO Standards with respect to SHE/Quality/Environmental/Energy.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • NQF 6 in Operations Management, Fleet Management or Safety Management (HSE).
  • Fully computer literate (all MS Office packages).
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet operational deadlines.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • A valid driver’s License.
