The Office of the Chief Justice (OCJ) is a National Government Department in South Africa established to provide administrative and technical support to the Chief Justice as the Head of the Judiciary and the Head of the Constitutional Court.

Office of the Chief Justice (OCJ) is a National Government Department in South Africa established to provide administrative and technical support to the Chief Justice as the Head of the Judiciary and the Head of the Constitutional Court. Its primary mandate is to ensure the effective and efficient administration of all Superior Courts, thereby promoting the independence and impartiality of the judiciary. The OCJ is responsible for providing legal and administrative support to the Chief Justice, developing court administration policy, supporting the Judicial Service Commission, administering judicial education, and managing matters related to judges’ employment. It also provides technical support to ensure the efficiency of Superior Courts. 

The Office of the Chief Justice (OCJ), in partnership with the Safety and Security Sector Education and Training Authority (SASSETA), is offering a 24-month funded internship programme for the 2025–2027 financial years.

This initiative is designed to provide unemployed graduates and TVET learners with meaningful workplace exposure and practical experience in line with their field of study. Applicants must be South African citizens who have never participated in any previous internship programme.
