South Deep Gold Mine: Ropesman Engineering Learnerships 2025.
This learnership offers practical, work-based and external technical training designed to help learners qualify as artisans in the field of Rigging and Ropesmanship. The programme aligns with MQA requirements and provides real workplace exposure at South Deep Gold Mine.
Host Community Eligibility
To qualify as a host community applicant, you must reside in one of the following areas:
- Bekkersdaal
- Zuurberkom
- Thusanang
- Hillshaven
- Westonaria
- Poortjie
- Simunye
- Kalbasfontein
- Jachtfontein
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science
- Full N2 Qualification with the following 4 trade-specific subjects:
- Engineering Mathematics
- Engineering Science
- N2 Rigging Trade Theory
- Engineering Drawing
- Must be declared medically fit via a risk-based medical at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre
- Must pass the Heat Tolerance Screening Test and other required assessments

Key Responsibilities
- Attend technical training as prescribed by MQA
- Participate in short courses required by the mine
