Programme Overview
The PathCare Academy is offering a Phlebotomy Technician Learnership designed to equip individuals with theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the collection and processing of blood and body samples. This learnership will commence in 2026 and includes training at PathCare Academy campuses and laboratories across the country.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify, applicants must meet the following academic and personal requirements:
- NSC Grade 12 with:
- Life Sciences/Biology ≥ 50% or HBM ≥ 60%
- Mathematics ≥ 40% or Math Literacy ≥ 60%
- Proficiency in English (read, write, and speak fluently)
- Basic understanding of Afrikaans
- South African ID document
- Matric certificate (certified copy required during application)
- Ability to work shifts and after-hours
- Strong work ethic, teamwork and customer service orientation
- Willingness to handle blood and body products
Selection Process
The competitive selection process includes:
- Screening of applications and academic records
- Proficiency testing
- Panel interviews for top-scoring candidates
Only applicants who meet all requirements and score the highest in evaluations will be accepted into the programme.
