The City provides all the services normally associated with a full-service municipality, such as water, electricity, waste removal, sanitation, new infrastructure, roads, public spaces, facilities, housing developments, the upgrade of informal settlements and existing infrastructure, clinics and more.

Requirements

  • Minimum National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Light

current) or equivalent coupled with minimum 8 years of

which 5 years is in a senior role in TETRA, Analogue and

DMR Two-Way radios repair and maintenance in a

Workshop environment.

  • Must be able to perform Two-Way Mobile radio installations

in any Council vehicles as well as installations of repeaters

in a High Site environment.

  • Must be able to operate Two-Way radio test set instruments.
  • Computer literacy.
  • A valid motor vehicle driver’s license.
  • Must be physically fit and able bodied to work at heights and

to carry heavy equipment and tools.

  • Must be willing to work after-hours including overtime and

standby

Key Performance Areas

  • Responsible for the acquisition, installation, maintenance

and operation of the City’s ETSI TETRA Radio Trunking

Infrastructure including Subscribers and Analogue/DMR

systems for the Neighbourhood-Watch and associated

infrastructure.

  • Responsible for the calibration of Analogue and DMR radio

systems to ensure compliance to regulatory and statutory

requirements.

  • Undertakes technical designs and provides specifications.
  • Co-ordinates projects and leads project team.
  • Management and controlling movement of all related assets.
  • Programming, configuring and troubleshooting of radio

equipment and systems.

  • Customer relationship management, to maintain sound

business values with all stakeholders to ensure service

delivery.

  • Undertakes tasks and supervision of sub-ordinates for

programming, configuring, repairs, and hardware installations

of related radio equipment.

  • Provides customer in-house training
