The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development invites graduates to apply for entry-level vacancies for various positions in Gauteng, North-West and Western Cape.

Post 34/60: Legal Administration Officer (MR3-MR5): Legal Process

  • Ref No: 24/25/LD
  • Salary: R307 659 – R1 053 387 per annum (depending on experience and qualifications, as per OSD determination).

Requirements:

  • LLB degree or recognized legal qualification (4 years)
  • Minimum 2 years of post-qualification legal experience
  • Knowledge of the South African legal system, the Constitution, Criminal Procedure Act, and Child Justice Act
  • Office administration experience is essential

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing requests for Presidential pardons
  • Handling applications for expunging criminal records
  • Managing petitions for court referrals under the Criminal Procedure Act
  • Overseeing stakeholder relations and people management

Requirements:

  • LLB degree or equivalent legal qualification (4 years)
  • Familiarity with the Maintenance Act, family law, and maintenance system
  • Valid driver’s license required for some locations (e.g., Westonaria)
  • Proficiency in English, Sesotho, and Xhosa (specific to Westonaria)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a Maintenance Officer in line with the Maintenance Act
  • Obtain financial details for maintenance inquiries
  • Supervise Maintenance Investigators
  • Manage Maintenance Court proceedings and implement court orders

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide interpretation services in criminal, civil, and labour courts
  • Translate legal documents and maintain case records
  • Assist with court statistics and case management
