Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• In-depth and general operation of furnace
• Constant monitoring of furnace parameters
• Burner assembly/cleaning and fine-tuning burner combustion
• Oversee the charging as well as housekeeping of the furnace
• Monitor scrap quality and assist with scrap blending to achieve desired spec
• Record production data as required by our quality management system
• Assist the line manager with ad hoc duties
• Management of the Furnace equipment and operational procedures
• Manage quality standards in accordance with set targets and guidelines
• Manage risk by identifying potential failures and offering solutions to remedy risk
• Team supervision to ensure smooth operation of the shift
• Manage consumables and spares to ensure that production runs smoothly
• Compile shift report including general incidents and delays
• Investigate incidents and communicate findings possible solutions timeously
• Implementation and monitoring of Occupation Health and Safety compliance

Applicants must have the following qualifying criteria:

1. Matric (Maths compulsory)
2. Must be computer literate (Microsoft Office)
3. Excellent Communication skills. (verbal, written and presentation)
4. In depth knowledge and experience in operating a furnace
5. Minimum 3-5 years’ experience as a Supervisor in a production or mechanical environment;
6. Ability to work in and lead a team
7. Ability to work independently
8. Willingness to work overtime and SHIFTS
9. Ability to work under challenging conditions
10. Must have basic knowledge of Health & Safety Rules
11. In good health, physically fit
