Tiger Brands is one of Africa’s largest and oldest fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) companies, headquartered in South Africa. It manufactures, markets, and distributes a wide range of branded food, beverages, and personal and home care products across the African continent and in Chile.

To provide short-term specialist analytical support for internal aflatoxin testing using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The role will focus on method validation, system optimization, troubleshooting, and ensuring continuity of laboratory operations during a critical implementation phase.

Key Responsibilities

  •   Execute and support HPLC method validation activities (precision, accuracy, linearity, recovery, LOD/LOQ).
  •   Perform routine aflatoxin analysis in accordance with approved methods and SOPs.
  •   Conduct system suitability testing and instrument performance verification.
  •   Troubleshoot HPLC instrumentation and chromatographic issues.
  •   Ensure data integrity and compliance with food safety and quality standards.
  •   Assist in development and finalization of validation reports and documentation.
  •   Provide technical guidance and hands-on training to junior laboratory staff.
  •   Support parallel testing comparison with external laboratories.
  •   Ensure compliance with internal QA systems and audit requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  •   National Diploma / BSc in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, or related scientific field.
  •   Minimum 3–5 years practical HPLC experience.
  •   Proven experience in method validation and documentation.
  •   Experience in food, pharmaceutical, or regulatory laboratory environment.
  •   Strong understanding of chromatographic principles and troubleshooting.
  •   Experience with aflatoxin analysis (advantageous).
  •   Familiarity with ISO/FSSC/GLP laboratory standards (advantageous).
