Our customers are in all sectors of the economy and these include listed companies, public companies, small SME’s, state-owned companies, municipalities and private individuals.

The incumbent will be required to work closely with the underwriter and Specialist for training, coaching and guidance, on the following underwriting tasks:

  • Development and review the Sasria policy wordings and guidelines to ensure consistency in the management of the Sasria business by the Agents.
  • Dissemination of product knowledge to the industry.
  • Product development and enhancement.
  • Loss ratio management.
  • Managing technical queries from the industry.
  • Ensuring that product pricing is in line with the risk exposure.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bcom in Business management, Risk Management or Insurance.
  • National Senior Certificate / Matric.

Minimum Experience:

  • None (should however be able to demonstrate professionalism, hard-work and be able to grasp concepts swiftly).
  • Please note that preference will be given to people with disabilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Alignment

  • Increasing capacity and knowledge of Sasria business in order to have skills to tap into whenever the need arises.

Underwriting management

  • Participate in reviewing terms and conditions of products.
  • Participate in reviewing our regulations and policy wordings to ensure they remain relevant and up to date.
  • Assist in monitoring the loss ratio movement per class of business.
  • Monitor and report multi claimants.
  • Assist in handling e-mail queries from our stakeholders.
  • Participate in conducting research on possible new products and enhancement of existing ones through interactions with the market.
  • Participate in the review of product information on our website to ensure its relevance.
  • Understand and adhere to client and staff relationships through individual contacts and group meetings.
  • Pursues professional development opportunities, including external and internal training and where possible be able to share information gained with co-workers.

Risk management

  • Contribute in identifying emerging risks.
  • Contribute in establishing required controls to mitigate Underwriting risk.

Training and Support

  • Active involvement in development of own skills, through agreeing performance development plan to improve technical and soft skills.

Perform ad hoc tasks

  • Perform any reasonable ad hoc tasks as and when required by the organisation.
