Job Purpose
The Department of Economic Development and Tourism, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a competent individual to deliver an effective and efficient financial service regarding miscellaneous payments and creditors as well as handling of State money to the Department and maintain a healthy accounting practice.
Minimum Requirements
Senior Certificate (Grade 12 or equivalent qualification).
Recommendation
An appropriate tertiary qualification or in the process of completion in Accounting/Financial Management as a subject; Relevant experience/exposure working in a financial accounting environment; A valid (Code B or higher) driving licence.
Key Performance Areas
Render financial accounting services; Perform salary administration support services; Bookkeeping support services.
Competencies
A good understanding of the following: Financial background (Public Sector Finance recommended); Accounting principles; Public Finance Management Act; National and Provincial Treasury Regulations and Directives; Basic Accounting System (BAS and Personnel and Salary Administration (PERSAL) Skills in the following: Written and verbal communication; Numeracy and literacy; Proven computer literacy; Problem-solving, analytical and people management skills; Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines; Ability to work independently and part of a team.
Remuneration
R 216 417per annum (Salary Level 5)
Note on remuneration: Service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
Notes
Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit documentation for verification purposes and criminal record vetting. These candidates will be required to d practical and attend interviews on a date and time determined by the department and may also be required to undergo competency assessments/proficiency tests. The selection process will be guided by the EE targets of the employing department.
